Bronze Lamp by Albert Reimann (cabachon jewels, glass rod, bead fringe)
An extremely rare bronze lamp by Albert Reimann, circa 1905, with iridescent orange cabachon jewels and glass rod and bead fringe. Signed at the base. We believe the glass bead fringe to be original. It measures 21″ high, 15″ wide and 12.5″ deep. Partially rewired with an in-line on/off switch. When this lamp came to us it had a European plug and a far too short cord. We added a longer cord, with a switch, from the base outward only, as fully rewiring would be a difficult project with the wire running up through the extended arms and down to the sockets. We know that a total rewire was done recently because the wiring is all modern style cord.Original pull chains also fully functional.
Signed by Albert Reimann, this lamp carries significant artistic and historical importance. Reimann (1875-1976) was a Berlin-based artist who founded workshops for drawing, wood carving, and metalworking in the late 1890s and early 1900s. Dating to the early 20th century, this exceptional lamp stands as a rare synthesis of fine sculpture, functional lighting, and the Art Nouveau movement.
